Passionate about bringing positive change

At Jon & Jon Medical, we are passionate about creating positive change in people’s lives, helping them become the best version of themselves.

We proudly sponsor the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, giving back through our everyday business activities to help make a real difference.

In remote Indigenous communities, books are often scarce, and literacy levels tend to be much lower than elsewhere in Australia.

Each time Jon & Jon Medical supports a doctor or nurse in taking the next step in their career, we also contribute to improving the lives of Indigenous families.

We do this by gifting new, culturally appropriate books — with a focus on early literacy and first languages — and by sponsoring the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to run programs that inspire communities to tell and publish their own stories, in the languages they choose.

More than just recruitment

Every time we help a doctor, nurse, hospital, or practice, we also make a meaningful difference in the lives of Indigenous families across Australia.

Here are some examples of how our everyday business activities connect to our giving:

  • When we place a doctor or nurse in a locum position
  • When we place a doctor or nurse in a permanent position
  • When a doctor or nurse refers another professional to us
  • When a doctor or nurse registers as a new candidate with Jon & Jon Medical

A huge thank you to all the doctors and nurses. Together, with you, we are making a difference through our everyday work.

Our Impact

In remote indigenous communities, books can be scarce and literacy levels are often much lower than anywhere in Australia.

Each time Jon & Jon Medical helps a doctor with the next step in their career, we also contribute towards making a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new, culturally appropriate books – with a focus on early literacy and first language – but also by sponsoring the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to help run programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories, in the languages they choose

We cannot thank you enough for supporting our program. We have seen firsthand the benefits of increased positive experiences of early reading including conversational reading, reading with family and looking at books independently. We know that reading opens doors and the books you provide help give disadvantaged children the opportunity to do this and develop a love of literacy from the beginning.

We really appreciate the awesome range of books, especially the Indigenous books that are supplied to our school. To have books written and illustrated by Indigenous people shows the students that Indigenous people are capable of anything.

We offer a book to all the paediatric patients we see, especially if they are having a painful procedure done. The kids love them and they get to take one home, hopefully it also helps not to make a hospital a scary place for the kids.

Make your own contribution

All donations to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) help them put books into the hands of children in remote Indigenous communities. The Foundation's Book Supply program delivers culturally appropriate books where they are needed most, while its Book Buzz initiative engages younger children in reading with resource kits and first-language translations. The ILF also works collaboratively with communities on Community Literacy Projects, assisting them to write, illustrate, and publish their own stories, with a focus on preserving first languages.
